I peeled it either with my bare fingers, putty knife, putty knife and blow dryer (blow dryer helped a lot) and tough tough spots- a sander.

I ran some numbers and with a 10% down payment on a ~ $600k home, I would be a 40% equity right around 15 years (no appreciation assumed here.. you were spot on).
