So the old saying of "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" is applicable here.... if you want guaranteed access to $200k, that $200k needs to be sitting in a FDIC insured depository account, or your access to it is purely hypothetical/speculative in the event of a downturn.I'm young, so that's drawn from me doing the old "you prepare for the next 'war' based on what happened in the last 'war'" thing that is far from perfect.
