Now, somewhere along the path to wealth accumulation, it may be proper for the wealth builder to place a portion of their assets in passive investments throwing off significant income, if only for portfolio diversification.

Have you considered asking your real estate-investing uncles to offer a job and/or connect you with people they work with to hire you?

And the garage feels oversized, so I'm thinking about the possibility of converting it into a 2-car garage and adding ~300sqft of living space as another bedroom and hallway that still connects the house to the garage, so that the new layout will be 2500sqft, 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom with a 600sqft 2-car garage.

I assume, with proper management, you could keep employees around and lower the risk of employee turnover. 

Your post doesn't make any sense and doesn't give anyone an idea of how they can help you other than that maybe you need a connection for a mortgage.

There are users out there (me being among them) who do not shut down the browser and do power down computer; they would seem to always be online as long as the site is up and running, and the network stays in connected state between user and BP.
