I know the area must be the primary place of business and exclusively for business purposes but will I run into issues come tax time?

I was told that the state/government would be willing to pay market rent value for your property and in most cases it is more than what you would receive through a private or traditional tenant.

., my guess is, renting out your primary would not cover all your $237k mortgage and its other expenses, right?

Question: Will your next primary be a good investment from day one, if you rented it out instead?

My husband and I currently own 3 properties in Chicago with a total of 5 units not including our primary residence.

I also don't believe you can depreciate personal property like this on a primary residence. 

Even if its your primary, they still may want a permit pulled. 

We used FHA for our primary residence and they made the owners kait the she'd because it was flaking. 

I currently rent a room in NYC and would like to keep it for layover purposes, while the new property (in SC) serves as my primary residence.How often must I be physically present at the duplex, for it to qualify as my primary residence?
