Scott W. Mildew smell in house
9 January 2013 | 17 replies
ed, first of all, great questions. i really appreciate your knowledgable input...taught me a ton. i don't think there's a new cause. the smell was almost nonexistent after the crawl was finished. after every week for a month, it went down further. it would come back in pockets every once in a blue moon. there was one area (living room) where I'd smell it briefly in the family upon a rain shower.as you know, the crawl is cemented. there's no leaks found down there. good point on the attic. i will check into that in the spring. i know the area around the chimney is soft.

However there has been a lot of pettiness in the form of unprofessional emails from the builder, given only 1 role of blue tape for the blue tape walk through which was kind of sprung on me and they attempted to complete it within the hour with the orientation, however there were a LOT of cosmetic issues, requesting me to sign a form that states that I will retroactively pay a cost of carry for the months of August, September, and October if I don't close by the end of October.

Jesse Fernandez Investing in Peoria, IL

I will say that Peoria is not a market for house appreciation so you need to male sure you get a good price....I would say at a minimum 15% less than asking as the market here swings +/-15% in the ten years we have been here. The good thing rent has been very stable and I would like to say that we are a very diverce town in blue/white colar mix.The cons, there still only two major employers and anything affecting them will impact the rent market heavily.
