On of my best friends owns a construction company and is a GC upstate.  

Sustainability (because we're a nation that imports more than we export and shipping empty containers to China takes fuel) might be another reason, but by the time all the holes are cut in the steel frame and the container has been modified to live in, the embodied energy in that little container (even after taking shipping into account) is probably higher than FSC-certified stick frame construction.  

I am an engineer and currently work for a major ag/construction/lawn equipment manufacturer (I'll leave it to you to guess which one) at one of their factories in my area.

im a beginner investor, I own a flooring company a little south of you on in currituck and we service mostly the outer banks but will probably look more north for investments for BRRR and maybe some flips if the money is right. keep up with me, if you ever want any ideas of finishes or construction i am pretty knowledgeable about "renter proof" ideas to keep down the maintenance of a home without breaking the bank. this whole area is awesome and a great place to live and invest if you arnt familiar yet with the area.
