That figure includes my family's personal residence and cars but I saved 50% on the rental policies over what I was paying with Travelers (and State Farm for one rental policy).

I'd also be keen to find out peoples opinions on whether Houston has enough diversification in the job market or if it's too dependent on the oil industry and if that gets replaced/winds down in 25-60 years (a debatable point I know) would the housing market still stand up or would you get another Detroit-like scenario where the demise of the car industry destroyed house prices?

First things first, if you haven’t already you need to start saving for a rainy day whether that be for an emergency with the house, car, and or family.

The way I understand is if you are driving to go to a grocery store for example, and hit someone by accident, he may sue you for everything you have beyond what the normal car insurance covers.
