I can see the landlord/tenant relationship is more intimate than usual commercial transactions, but this is overboard......except for the fact that I now know about the tenant being the landlord's daughter.

Even if you go back in time, just compare it to homes during that same time period.You may also want to consider hedging the front of the house to give it that "backyard" feel.I have seen people push back when there isn't a back yard.

In my experience, I would not recommend that you let them know, they will use it against you if things don't get done in time or well.
