The engineer would likely have to perform soil studies (soil borings) to determine the actual strength of the subsurface and from there the thicknesses of asphalt layer, aggregate base course, OR other base courses that may be required.

In the meantime, read and study as much as you can about all aspects of this field.Any legitimate real estate transaction of any substance requires attorneys to review and create contracts and deeds etc, earnest deposit money, substantial due diligence money for appraisals, surveys, environmental assessments (phase1 etc) and inspections.

This area is a bit more upscale - but so are the students, so rather than dealing with undergrads, look to deal with graduate students focused on their medical degree studies.
