The knob and tube he did open up a light switch upstairs to confirm it was 3 part wire, I guess I easily could have checked a few more switches my self.

I have a separate " House" meter for the the machines, furnace, hall entry and exterior lights and the gas only serves the furnace and dryers. stoves are electric and the tenants pay that. i think it would be easier on you to have separate meters for all ( electric, gas and water). and just a side note, to make it easier for them and you, i installed a coin machine next to them, then when i empty the laundry machines, i put the coins back in the coin machine and take the bills from the coin machine, into my pocket ( but i put back same amount of coins as bills removed from coin machine, never have to go to bank to get more coins)

The hallway light fixture has been changed out, as well as replacing the two "kid" fans with something more "grown up".Old ceiling fans:New bedroom wall color with new ceiling fan:The nasty, stained carpet is coming out; it was just left there while painting because then it didn't matter if anything got dripped on the floor.

Breaking that up typically mean separate electric meters, disconnects, panel for each unit as well as a common meter for landscape lights, walkway lights, fire and smoke alarms, common laundry, pumps etc...in addition to the rewiring that is necessary to break it up on the inside.
