When looking into it briefly, it looks like Mackinaw City, Traverse City, & Petoskey are the most restrictive on AirBNBs whereas Boyne City and Harbor Springs allow them with a permit, any information on how difficult it is to get one of these permits for an out of state investor?

It is possible with finding a SFR I'd stay a few years and consider either keeping it as a rental or selling it and moving into another home.What should I do in my scenario with the information given here?

Oh, and it wasn't clear in your post whether the area of the property you're looking at is LADWP or Edison, though to be honest it doesn't make too much of a difference.
