Last, you can do an unlimited amount of repairs to a home using a 203k renovation loan (up to the FHA loan limit), including knocking down the house and building a new home!

The limits are not high at first, but they can build with good utilization and payment history.

Long story short if you are committed to house hacking the sky is the limits and there is endless possibility, it really comes down to your comfort level and where exactly you need to be in New Jersey.

I do see a ton of 2 unit houses on Zillow, so would it be a good bet that these are landlords trying to unload their stock before student housing regs kick in?
