Neither mortgage company involved would listen long enough to even recognize the problem, I contacted my pre-paid legal service and it took several tries for me to show the lawyer the problem.

@J Beard - the leases I've inherited are stock Section 8 leases, I've connected with a local lawyer as I want much more clarity around expectations in my leases. 

You're dealing with the families (and their emotions over mommy's house), the lawyers, the courts, etc.

There were no realtors involved, my lawyer wrote the contract and closed it.

Not exactly sure what types of protection you are wanting but I would suggest talking to a Texas lawyer and/or CPA.There are lots of options. 

It could be a decent strategy, but I'd make sure to run the legal aspects by a lawyer.
