They promote it in a couple of magazines and online spaces as well and every couple of days I get an email as I am sure they are sending everyone on how great the program is (complete with balloons and confetti)!

Corey, I generally agree with your message but I have to add that sometimes a lender's upfront fee is necessary and may not indicate a scam.I've dealt with borrowers who have a great aptitude towards their project and even greater passion for their business but have very limited skill in presenting that aptitude and passion on paper (or in emails) or in presentations to investors/lenders.

Every county has their own way of doing things, so you'll need to check with your county tax assessor to know for sure (should be on their website I would imagine).For example, in my county, taxes are due September 15 for the entire year -- in other words, by September 15, 2011, I had to pay all my 2011 taxes.

If your qualified funds have already been taxed, that's a different story.Yes, the 10% penalty is a PITA, but I'll concede it might be worth it.I do think you should contribute up to the company match in your 401-K, it's hard to imagine that being a bad move, even if all your investment choices stink (just leave it in a Stable Value fund).Probably a hell of a lot more advice in this thread than you asked for!
