Sure, I can and have done this by paper, it is a large 3 ring list of about 40 sheets, and one has to go thru the pages, list it all, do the calculations, and then work to not miss something because if you do, well that is one of those pop up expenses, like say you forget to add seam tape for the drywall, or spacers for the tile.
