Don't stop the growth.

A "sign" might be:Large numbers of people are moving into your neighborhood, driving up prices;Real estate numbers show a significant lack of inventory for sale;A large number of older homes in need of significant renovation in a growth area;ETC

The issue is she never had a retirement plan with regard to these properties (in the sense that traditional stock planning has one shift assets from growth to stability as one gets older).

Now you are negative 1% on return even with the rent growth from last year in comparison.My clients buying multi-million dollar properties that are retail it is triple net so the tenants pay the property taxes.

I also would rather find a market area in the path of progress or growth (quality area), to have a better potential for appreciation.

But I wonder if that's just from isolated periods of market activities and in the long run the average growth rates are similar?

'Brooklyn' style growth is pushing west ie coffee shops, art galleries, creatives Upstate Craft Beer Co etc.

Small towns may rely too much on a single business or market segment.Population Growth - If people are moving into a location, many things have to be right.
