Buying sight-unseen is a serious gamble. 

I have some software background and have built web apps / sites on Python Django web framework (which some of the others use).

Originally that house would have been outside anything I would have looked at (this is going back 4 years or so) in price, but because I knew the MLS so well when the price got down from $120 to $95 I gambled that they would move on a cash, quick close deal.

If you do not have boots on the ground who you can trust, you would be gambling, not investing.
