Earn interest on the unused portion while the tenant is in place.Now if they came along with the years rent in cash and had absolutely nothing verifiable on paper it would be a different story.In luxury rentals or competitive metro markets this isn't unusual and in some situations a leverage tactic.good luck!

You can essentially barter 4-5 hrs per day of labor or skills (during the weekday) helping micro/eco hotel/lodge owners to build/design their businesses in really exotic locales in exchange for room and board (and typically the use of other amenities like boats, shuttles, etc.)

One of my family members own a condo with a peek-a-boo ocean view on PCH in Huntington Beach walking distance from the pier, she spent a lot of money renovating the inside because she uses it for personal use and enjoys the luxury of it, but her complex was built in the 70s as well, with a small pool/jaccuzi, no tennis courts or fitness center.
