You have to know YOUR reason for wanting earthquake.I sell earthquake insurance at AAA here's what I have seen:- the closer you are to the fault line (Los Angeles/Northridge area, Palm Desert), the less likely people buy earthquake insurance because the cost is prohibitive unless they have large amount of equity in the house... or unless they are close or in retirement age- the further South you live: San Diego, Mission Viejo, San Juan Capistrano, the cheaper the earthquake CEA policy is.

I was just curious if all the new regulations in states like CA and OR have managed to rezone properties, or have such cost prohibitive restrictions that it's impossible to bring new developments into the market.I know in most areas investors have bought up the parks and they're very rarely owned by a local owner as they once were.

These type of regulations dont just change out of the goodness of their hearts....someone is looking for a way to make more $$.In my experience most people looking to add an ADU are looking for a way to add income or equity to their property and the average joe isnt going to get the government to allow him to do that if its been prohibited before.

Some of these things are messier than others - where do my rights begin and yours end when it comes to firearms, speech, access to necessities of life, etc - and some are more clear cut  - prohibitions against murder, robbery, etc - but that's the primary function of government.

I am trying to use a large conventional lender because of the 30 year fixed rates they are offering, but don't think I will be able to come up with the entire down payment, closing and reserve without borrowing a small sum of money (which they prohibit).
