I think that concern is a bit overblown, but if the the bank is looking for a reason to get you off their books (e.g. rates have dramatically gone up and they're not making any money on your mortgage), why give them a reason?

@Antonio BodleyOne possible issue is if you are signing on the loan, your credit will dramatically decrease once you take out a balance transfer.
