Personally, I don't think it's that black and white (for example, I don't think the obligation to look after my family is a loss of freedom), but lets say that to an extent that's true.But I think you have to consider other factors in tandem with the obligation of the debt.

I can't believe how brazen some people are when it comes to disregarding pretty black and white rules.

People would drive down the road with black smoke pouring out of their tail pipes. 

Had you bought in 2005 you'd still be waiting to be in the black.  

These parks are in mixed conditions and some require work and some need to be filled with renters to get in the black.

The world isn't black and white.
