Think of the immigrants that came over years ago, they did not take on a bunch of debt, that is why they had something.

We have been told that as landlords we could be held liable on the immigration issue.

There are some that can and will (mostly immigrants), but most cannot.

By the end of 2013, I think we will be hearing about labor shortages, which should crank up immigration even more.

It's just sounds anti-immigrant.

Rob: I had tenants last year {recent immigrants from a far warmer climate than Canada} who liked to keep their house in the 25 - 28C range ... about mid-January, I received a call from my panicking tenants who had just received a $400.00 hydro bill {outdoor temperature had not gotten above -10C in a month}.I went over to re-programme the thermostat {as it was when they moved-in} and brought them sweaters.
