You want to argue "medians" well how about this, if cheaper is so much better WHY are people in the U.S.

We are working with a real estate agent but I am curious on others opinions as this situation is so unusual. 

The emotional side of me is so angry that they damaged a house I put a lot of work and TLC into, and that between damage and lost rent, basically a year of profits from the house will be wiped out, but the logical side of me thinks I may be throwing good money at bad.

I would install new cabinet doors with hidden hinges on the existing cabinets; I order from Fryburg doors out of Millersburg, Ohio because I'm close enough to pick up and the quality is so very nice, but menards also sells in stock cabinet doors. 

If it were me I would sell and deploy that capital elsewhere because your ROE is so low compared to buying somewhere with better available financing.

Everyone is so helpful.  

When you look at it this way it is almost funny how everyone is so worried about the exact amount of the monthly cash flow.
