Wholesaling is a different approach and is full time endeavor and is really designed to replace your income versus buying and holding is building long term wealth.Challenges with flipping on its own is it can be hard to find good enough deals to get in and get out in less than a few months and if you do that you get killed in taxes and closing costs.

LLC's are controversial here, there's some good arguments to just using good enough insurance.

Now if you think that the things you can buy are not good enough quality I assure you that no one will ever know.

We have not held anything as a long term rental in the last 2 years, one AirBNB being the exception, the yields just have not been good enough to sit on them when the market is so hot to turn them loose.  

Continue doing your best, be honest and professional and hardworking, and if that's not good enough for someone they can go do whatever to themselves and it's not your problem.
