I am currently house hacking my primary residence in California and just bought a rental property in Indiana. 

They said that per California Revenue and Taxation code, they're asking me to provide them info such as the purchase agreement, rent rolls, etc. to assist them in doing the reappraisal of my property.  

Wife and I bought a 3 bedroom single family home in Merced CA.

I know many investors from around the world including many from Ca that have been as well.

California is expensive!

In CA a third party, escrow agent, generally holds the EDM, but at times, the FSBO wants to hold the EDM or is unaware of how to hold the EDM.

CA will want to collect the portion of the tax due while the property was in CA. 

Tools were recovered and pest control was terminated.So we are naturally in a very secure area in one of the safest cities in CA.
