So do I, this is the house we live in 7 months of the year https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/20171285 It was built to be a winery, is 8000 SF when we are finished and its on 15 acres, with vineyards on 3 sides, the "basement" is not yet finished, has 12 foot ceilings and was going to be the production room and is going to be my office, it is 2200 sf...the basement...with those same views....the other 5 months we live at the coast in a cottage 3 blocks from the beach....and we MAKE money each year...we rent the home out during high season, have a 2nd set of basically everything (furniture, linens, dishes etc) we store in the garage..hire movers to swap everything out.

@Sarah Becker look out, that is @Brandon Turner neck of the woods....he may chase you away from his tucked away gem ; )I did a preliminary analysis of the Aberdeen / Hoquim area about a year or two ago and decided I did not want to invest there mainly due to the fact that the economy is/was shrinking and it is too far off the I-5 corridor to attract any new substantial businesses.

See who the mover and shakers are and what these investor types might be looking for; I would line up my investor types first; you might also explore the Joint Venture route; contact some of you friends and business connections and see who might be interested in becoming a financial backer.

You might be surprised.But assuming he doesn't, I would let him know in the same conversation that considering his long years as a great tenant...if he doesn't want to or can't stay...I will be supplying him with the security deposit and first month's rent for (up to) a similar apartment as well as paying for movers to both pack and move his items.He will probably have to move to a smaller place and/or another less expensive city to live in.
