But that is not a big concern of theirs as any weeks not rented become time that they and their extended family can use the place personally.Plus as you know there are favorable IRS rules on personal use, 14 days per year or less, and IRS also permits opening and closing trips to the vacation property.Obviously owning these properties 30 years they have been very profitable for you.

See comments on rent ready units above and consider the fact that at least in our area if power has been off for more than 90 days it requires an occupancy permit, unless these units are in good shape and systems have been well maintained or updated this will usually trigger a need for an electrical permit,  Pandoras box.

Most importantly the city of Duluth limits how many are permits are allowed and currently there all taken.
