What made you interested in investing in this type of deal?

In order to do a 1031 exchange you must have purchased the property with the intent of holding for productive use. 

But I fear you must be on active duty in order to extend.However, there's another reason entirely that would send me to a 1031 exchange.

I was active-duty Army for 3 years and Army National Guard for another 3 years.My understanding is that in order for you to buy a multifamily with a VA or FHA loan the revenue from property has to cover all expenses without your assistance.
