I like Christiansburg for it's proximity to the Blacksburg activity, but not the price!

In general though, you're able to directly offset your income from the active rental activity with the *losses* you take from the business, but once the business becomes profitable, this would also add to your taxable income. 

You're probably not going to change their mind unless you reduce rent and that is a suckers move.

You have to keep in mind that when you're looking at Zillow, you're practically looking at deals that "everyone" is looking at.
