I have not yet finished the Bigger Pockets book on real estate investing, and am reading some other sources—- I’m just looking for some general conceptual pointers about how the book-keeping acutallly works.

Bigger pockets has some good books, I'd pick up J Scott's book on estimating rehab, and his flipping book is useful, even if you don't plan on flipping.

The only deal I am working on is currently my primary residence, which I am planning on refinancing and turning into a rental as we will be purchasing a slightly bigger home for our growing family.I just recently stumbled upon BP recently and am so glad I did.
