I would strongly urge to consider starting with a house-hack, something that mitigates risk factors and gives better opportunity to practice and "dial in" on the NE "vibe", and that's a key thing to understand, it's very much a NE vibe thing, hard to define in exact words, but it's a manner and style of things.

It is much more practical, less expensive to purchase, more profitable and easier to purchase multi-unit properties than single-family properties and I will argue and prove my statements, any day, should someone like to get into a serious debate vs. some one-like b.s. arguments.Buy 30 single-family properties, pay down the mortgage, retire and you will make a living and barely keep up with inflation..

The rental market is strong because there aren't enough quality homes for buyers to purchase and many who migrate here for work are relocated with short notice so they don't have a year to wait on building something new.
