Better might be something that pays the bills but exposes you to RE (construction, office work for a company in the field).At some level assume that a sales job might be great training for life but a real negative for credit.

Repairs and maintenance done piecemeal (and often at "afterhours" overtime rates), and especially low quality repairs that you end up Re-doing in a year, will break you.Or, you take into consideration that when it was new, the property had a design life of 40-50 years, and now, most of that life is used up.

Check the state regulations concerning HOAs.I know that in one state where I purchased a new condo there is a law (about 5 years old now) that requires there to be a reserve fund set up and the costs of all items to be estimated over their effective life.
