Much of the crime there goes unreported because they don’t want to tarnish their image, so it’s hard to compare using empirical data, but I’d put CR on par with Mexico at this point in terms of crime.

@ Matt, I've followed this thread and unfortunately there has not been a clear reply re: Gretchen's concern re: the city of Destin's willingness to accept STR; does the local board of realtors not track that data.

I took a look at some more data to try to gain some insight into this. 

I haven't found any tool that can find 'all' as much of the time the reporting of data by the county/ municipality can differ and many times the tools are built one size fits all.Good luck!

Find out who the principals are, do data research on them, get to know what they like, and then tailor your direct mail toward them with that.

For all the self-storage investors out there,I'm new to self-storage, so forgive me if this is a simplistic set of questions, but...It seems that most of the research/data that I'm coming across regarding a self-storage investment outlook is focused on the next 1-2 years, and it seems to indicate a mostly positive investment climate.

I pull assessor data (with a direct link) of the type of properties in the areas I want and send ALL the property owners an offer.

They provide the data and you would need to send the bills.
