We were able to buy these two homes, and remodel them (mostly) within budget, only coming out of pocket slightly.

If you keep the place up, once you move out and decide to rent both units you already have it budgeted, self sustaining, and it has a savings account for fixes so depending on how long you stayed and what you fixed, now it can make you money or you can start paying your premium down every other month.

Never trust a site that looks like it was created on a $40 budget in a 2-hour time frame.

Ask them for the approved budget, if they are behind on bills thats a red flag which will lead to special assessmnets.
