I am not that concerned but will most likely start distributing the funds rather than defer more.The original question asked whether deferring income as long as possible might be a good idea even when retired (and if that is even possible) which would make a larger percentage of income be taxed at 15%, and the fact that money could work tax free possibly in the form of a tax deferred self directed (traditional) IRA.The reason for considering stashing cash in retirement is the fact that my pension will almost certainly implode.

That can add to your stash pretty quick.Once you have an emergency fund, minimal monthly expenses and something for a downpayment, go for it!
