@Ellis Hammond Agree with @Dan Heuschele that impact is likely to be fairly localized in markets with the most egregious STR rates - that is, Mission Beach, PB, OB.

@Katie Bolt I feel like your primary residence is much more about how it impacts your family than it is about the investing side.

Some of my best purchases have been properties that had unique attributes that positively impacted metrics most rely upon in their decision making and suspect some investors may have dismissed these properties based on quick rule of thumb underwriting. 

Keep in mind when tenants run into financial management problems their landlord will be the first impacted and the last to be paid.
