has an excellent point - regardless of what the quoted rate is, there is no lock on that rate until you actually proceed with a formal loan application.  

On the last page of rental application for section 8 their is a 3 blank section to fill out for putting.

There are several that offer a corporate sounding receptionist to announce your company which ask the caller to enter the applicable extension of person they wish to speak with.  

Any advice on a specific type of application (residential, industrial, or commercial), to get your feet wet?

I read an article in Harvard Business Review a while back that referenced some research that showed that job applicants who jokingly suggested a ridiculously high salary for the position they were applying for actually ended up coming out with better salaries.

I told the loan officer during the application process, and he said that as long as they keep getting paid, they really don't care, since I am still personally on the hook for it.  

@Brandon Turner - thanks for the keyword suggestion - I spent lots of time fiddling around with them last night; it'll probably take some time fine-tuning to find the most applicable ones!

Lot of red tape but about as cheap as money can get in this scenario. 

Im wondering how many people also use this on their application and what type of feedback they get from tenants from having to provide account #'s on the application.
