However, that is a very human-centric thinking which is problematic.Here's a saying I heard this week:If insects were destroyed, all animals and humans would be quickly extinct.But if humans were destroyed, the rest of the earth would blossom. 

so assuming someone wants to get into STR business without buying property, operating a arbitrage business rather than co hosting should only be considered if there are greater profits, enough to provide a sufficient return on the additional invested capital and offset the greater risk.My conclusion is that Investing in residential properties in which the property owner chooses to rent short term, and starting a STR arbitrage business, are two different animals.  

Real estate is a different animal, you can't expect to start in real estate and start rolling in cash within the first month.

JUST bought the property and its honestly not conduce to having animals due to the layout, its on a busy, non-fenced in street, and I'd prefer this to be animal/pet free.

But, if you go to a place like NYC, it's an entirely different animal.  

I'm a small-animal veterinarian.

Charge a traditional security deposit, then increase it for the animal.

I also ask how much they smoke, type and number of animals they have and number of people.
