While talking about what needed to be done he was telling me stories of many different flippers who would simply hire him to paint over the rotting wood to cover it up temporarily instead of replacing it and then painting.Not only is this unethical, IMO, on the part of the flipper, but I thought is was also improper for him to do.

I'm gonna go check it out today, it sounds like the roof had a slight leak since they didnt seal the roof well enough when the wood burning stove was installed.
