So you'll have to make the call to do those upgrades or not.From a financial point of view it may or may not make sense but if its your home and you're living there you may decide to do it anyway for enjoyment value instead so it may have to be a balance between what your head and heart can agree upon.

If the provider really has your best interests at heart then they will fix things to make you happy.

I always advise to stay local in the beginning to learn by doing, and maintain full control over your investments without having to rely on the kindness of others to keep your best financial interests at heart and make or break your investments for you.

Follow your heart and pure desire first; especially if you are young.  

But Jeff I agree with you whole heartedly that buyers are now more sophisticated and are looking for certain things and design aspects in a home, thanks largely to these home flipping and design shows on tv.

I have an offer from a family member to purchase their lake home in the heart of the finger lakes in upstate NY.

I could also buy something nice to live in DC for myself (a walkable neighborhood close to metro appeals to me - I’d rather not live in suburbs right now) and slowly 1031 some properties to cheaper rentals in Baltimore (I’ve always had a weird place in my heart for charm city after spending weeks out there with a buddy in college).
