Realestate in Multiple States
I am a contractor and I go from contract to contract in wherever the jobs are. While my homebase is in Houston, TX (My kids live there) the last 5 years I have been in Ft. Worth, TX, Cookeville, TN, Indianapolis, IN, Nashville, TN, Houston, TX, Bentonville, AR and now I am in Memphis, TN. The contracts last anywhere from 6mos to 2yrs. I see this moving around as a serious impediment to me getting started with Real Estate investing at least in rental property which is my interest. I see people in other forums asking about whether they can do business in another state with an LLC, and so I know it can be done, but as a beginner?? I don't want to start off with the wrong foot. Is there anyone else here who has done it or anything to point me in teh right direction as to how I can do it.... just throwing it out there to see If I can find a way to do this.

@Jay Knightrose - Actually, you are in a great position because you can really get to know a city and PM companies. I'd network as much as you can with local REIs! While you are in Memphis, you should join us on Wednesday morning for Coffee with Investors (https://www.biggerpockets.com/forums/521/topics/420040-coffee-with-investors) @James Wachob started it a few weeks ago and its been great (he also hosts a monthly open house). You should also call @Douglas Skipworth and talk with his PM team (Crestcore). They manage our property here and are a great wealth of information. There is also a local REIA group (mig.clubexpress.com). Check out their event page. Let me know if I can do anything else to help guide you while you are here! :)
