So far, the only experience I have in the real estate business is reading different web pages online, listening to the bigger pockets podcast, and helping my friend flip his house, so I am brand new. 

I found very few decent reviews on the web, so I really hope this starts a discussion that is beneficial to BiggerPockets and the REI community.

I have a strong compulsion to email this James Altucher in regards to the path I am planning to take into the field of TLCs and Wholesale Deeds to see what he might have to say, but in turn I am wondering about his reputation from outside perspectives.

Your reputation is your most important asset and you risk soiling it if you leave the Seller with a bad taste in their mouth. 

When it comes time, interview a few reputable companies in your market.

Is there a web site or meetings...? 

The people who have a great reputation don't need to take these jobs.
