Who is James Altucher?

I recently conducted some search-engine researching when I came across the name of a one James Altucher ( www.jamesaltucher.com ) . After reading some of his posts I have become fascinated by his depth of research and seemingly powerful ability to sniff information -- however, I cannot help but be apprehensive as to the validity of the information provided (after all, this is search-engine research). I have a strong compulsion to email this James Altucher in regards to the path I am planning to take into the field of TLCs and Wholesale Deeds to see what he might have to say, but in turn I am wondering about his reputation from outside perspectives. Does anyone have an opinion on this subject?
