Thus, I might purposely defer paying property taxes on some units until after the new year (our property taxes are usually due by 2/1 or 3/1 of each year, depending on the county/municipality) if I know I'm going to need that additional deduction, since taxes would be claimed in the calendar year you paid them, or if I know I have enough deductions from rehab projects to essentially be wasting the tax deduction this calendar year.
