that's our Architects version of Modern Farm house.. and in that location we can get by with the taller roofs in some jurisdictions you have height limits that necessitate prairie style roofs here in the PDX metro area ( cant block sunlight of the neighbor)

I don't think that is worth the added flexibility of the 30 year loan even if you plan to initially make 15 year style payments on it.
