Especially on your first couple hundred deals..  

Before you go and spend hundreds and thousands (literally) of dollars you need to educate yourself on what sort of leads you are looking for.

The area is very heavily farmed by some very large rehabbers (hundreds of properties a year).You almost never see bandit signs; only the caveman billboards (I'm sure that's another factor). 

The Kitchen cabinets are on site and ready for installation.

This transition will save me several hundred dollars a month while building equity. 

I agree most of the good info is here on BP, so that's why I'm bringing most of those folks out ;)  Also, to others' points, it's definitely a hustle when the couple hundred dollar event is just a hint at the education or coaching they can buy for $5k, $10k, $40K++...
