I am not recommending for/against them: just pointing out there are ways to get listed in the MLS that do not involve paying 6%.Consider interviewing a few top selling real estate agents in your area to learn what they would do to market your property if you have not already done so.  

When interviewing them, ask how many other real estate investors they have as clients and can you speak to any of them?  

I would suggest that you interview several Realtors and ask them the following questions, to ascertain if they are truly Investor Friendly, or if they are throwing you a sales pitch.1.

Being that I am not coming from a top university with any real estate recruiting I have failed to even get the opportunity to interview with any real estate developers.

My spouse and I at the time started shopping around and interviewing realtors.

Once that's done, get to listening to the free BiggerPockets Podcast - A really great podcast with interviews and a ton of great advice.

Interview several, they really vary. 

Really the biggest thing that has made a difference in my business was instead of trying to sell my services to potential clients, I interview potential clients to see if I want to work with them.
