You want to live in the smallest unit so you don't have to room hack an even unit and so you an cash flow more on the other side.

Though I have catering experience and my wife has assisted living experience.

I assume the "caretaker" is living for free?

I rent out the downstairs 3br 1ba unit and currently live in the upstairs 1br 1ba apartment.

I bought it for 600k in 2002, and lived in it as my primary residence.

We want to buy a multi family of 2-3 units and house hack by living in one and renting out the other one or two units.
