After receiving our discharge in March 2013 we bounced back quite nicely-we're both employed and making more money than before, our FICO scores are back to 680 and we have about $10K in the bank.  

Like you, I had coverage for 25 years through my employer (municipal government).

I have been employing the tactic of using the listing agent for the offers I've made thus far (for the reasons of double commission), but I would probably be better suited to use an agent myself to ask these questions and ensure I'm protected.

From what I understood, you could transfer a TSP and 401K from previous employers.
