@William Morrison unless you are talking about a large multi family or some out of the ordinary building if you paid $1000 for a lead inspection you need to find a cheaper inspector. the three hundred number is much more typical.

Look at all of the big stuff when you go through- Roof, wiring, furnace ( I just spent $2,500 getting a new furnace in, and did the ducts myself) , ductwork, insulation, windows, cabinets.. flooring..

When I'm paying $30 for something on Amazon I spend at least a few minutes reading reviews - so people should definitely spend some time doing research when spending tens/hundreds of thousands of dollars.
